Port Arthur Discovery

Departs Monday, Wednesday, Friday.  A small group tour.
Departing your city hotel, travel around the historic birthplace of this fascinating city - Salamanca Place, Constitution Dock and Battery Point before making our way east across the Tasman Bridge and then south to Dunalley, the gateway to the Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas. Here Able Tasman’s 1642 expedition first set foot on this land, the first known Europeans to do so.
You then make your way to Port Arthur visiting the Tessellated Pavement which is a unique rock formation disappearing into the sea. You will marvel at the numerous natural attractions the peninsula’s rugged coast has to offer such as Tasman’s Arch and Lookout. The quirky Doo Town is another sight to see on the way to the Port Arthur Settlement.
The Port Arthur Settlement was first a timber gathering camp worked by convicts that over 47 years grew to be the most successful industrial prison and reform institution know to date.  The settlement of Port Arthur was created to put fear and hatred into the minds of those unfortunate enough to be sent there.
After a light lunch your guide will personally escort you around the ruins of the settlement telling you tales of the hardships suffered by the convicts.
The Port Arthur experience includes a cruise around ‘Arthur’s’ Carnavon Bay on a modern catamaran introducing you to sites such as the Isle of the Dead, Point Puer and the Dockyards.
Return to Hobart but not before stopping at Richmond, just 25 kilometres from the central Hobart, yet time warped into the 1870’s. Australia’s oldest convict built bridge still in use, churches and more as a must see before being dropped back at you hotel.

A Day in the Tasmanian Wilderness

Port Davey in the south west Tasmanian wilderness
Departs
: Daily from Hobart at  9 am, weather permitting (except Christmas Day).  Minimum of 2 passengers. Small group tour.
Returns: Approximately 8 hours later

Explore the incredibly remote waterways and wilderness of Bathurst Harbour / Port Davey.
Departing from Cambridge Airport, your aircraft will fly you into this remote area via the South Coast. Flying over Hobart's eastern suburbs and the Derwent River, make your way down the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, past Recherche Bay to Tasmanian’s most southern point, South East Cape. At this point we leave civilisation behind and enter the vast South West Wilderness by following the South Coast Track all the way to Melaleuca.
On the ground at Melaleuca, you'll have the opportunity to explore some of the local area, including visiting the local tin mine, a visit to see the rare and endangered Orange-Bellied Parrot at the Denny King Bird Hide, and do some short walks around the local area. Afterwards, board a boat for a trip down Melaleuca Inlet and into Bathurst Harbour, a waterway the size of Sydney Harbour, which has been untouched by civilisation. You will visit the untouched Celery Top Islands, take walks in the wilderness and enjoy lunch whilst breathing some of the cleanest air in the World.
Late in the afternoon, reboard your aircraft, and return to Cambridge Airport, flying via Federation Peak, and Mt Picton, over Huonville and Hobart City.
Included
Lunch and refreshments, boat trip to Port Davey and ground tour at Melaleuca, scenic flights to and from Melaleuca and transport to and from your hotel. Child age 3-15 years.
