Self Drive Itinerary: Alice Springs to Darwin via Katherine and Kakadu - 5 nights

Day 1 
Collect your rental vehicle in Alice Springs and drive to Tennant Creek.  An early departure is recommended for this long drive (over 500km).  Along your way you will come to one of the Territory's best known landmarks - the extraordinary, balancing Devils Marbles.
Overnight:

Day 2 
Leave Tennant Creek for another big day of driving (about 667km) to Katherine.  Consider a stop at Daly Waters Pub, the oldest pub in the Northern Territory.  Mataranka is another welcome stop for all travellers as it boasts the soothing Mataranka Thermal Pool. 
Overnight (2 nights): 
Economy -  All Seasons Katherine
First Class -  All Seasons Katherine
Day 3 
Today you are at leisure to explore the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park.

Day 4
Continue your drive from Katherine to Kakadu.
Overnight (2 nights): 
Economy -  Aurora Kakadu
First Class -  Gagadju Crocodile Holiday Inn 
Day 5
Enjoy a day at leisure in the superb Kakadu National Park.

Day 6
Leave Kakadu and drive to Darwin where you drop off your rental vehicle

You may depart on your Self Drive on any day but note that overnights en route on a Friday or Saturday may have a weekend surcharge.
A one way rental fee does not apply to this itinerary.
