Journey highlights
Leaving Sydney, pass through the Blue Mountains before crossing the countryside of New South Wales to Broken Hill.   Continue south to Adelaide, the "Festival City" and one of Australia's premium wine growing areas. Get ready for the Nullarbor Plain flat and arid yet fascinating, with 478km of straight rail track, the longest in the world.  Arrive at Kalgoorlie, a pioneering gold mining town, and  finally, beautiful Perth.  You have come a long way - in fact Perth is closer to Singapore than it is to Sydney.
