Scroll down to Price Panel ...

Sailing in the Whitsundays on a Beneteau 323The Whitsundays lie between the tropical Queensland coast and the Great Barrier Reef.  There are 74 lush, green islands scattered over 1600 square kilometres of marvellous cruising waters.  Many of the islands are uninhabited except for wildlife.  Green turtles and dolphins drift in the clear waters and in late winter and early spring, there are migrating Humpback whales.  Some of Australia's top island resorts are also to be found in the Whitsundays and visiting yachties are welcomed ashore to use the facilities and join in the fun.

GETTING THERE ...
You pick up your vessel at Shute Harbour,  approximately 36 km from Proserpine, north central Queensland.
By Air
Domestic flights fly in to Proserpine on the mainland from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.   Mackay airport is an alternative to Proserpine but is an approximate 2 hour drive to the south.
Bus companies operate regular services between Proserpine and Shute Harbour.
There is also a daily bus service to Mackay airport.
By Rail:
Queensland Rail operates regular express services into Proserpine from most major cities in Australia.
By Coach:
Coach companies operate regular daily services between major cities and the Whitsundays.

WEATHER CONDITIONS ...
The Whitsundays are situated on the same latitude as Tahiti and so you can expect sunny tropical weather virtually all the year round.  However there are rainy or windy conditions once in a while.

DO I NEED TO BE AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR? ...
HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE IS ENOUGH?
You don’t need to be an expert to sail a yacht, big or small. However, some experience at the helm is necessary and you should be able to handle a sailing dinghy competently.

BRIEFING:
You receive a complimentary 2-3 hour charter brief upon arrival and this will begin with reading the charts, a guide to anchorages and information about the weather and tides.  You will then move onto the boat itself for the vessel familiarisation, which will cover features and operation of the vessel, followed by radio and safety procedures.

The on water check covers anchoring and boat handling. For those who are unsure of their skills or a little rusty, you can have the services of a qualified sail guide for a couple of hours or for as long as you  wish. The sail guide will stay with you until you are ready to take over for the duration of the holiday.  Taking a sail guide is an excellent way to improve sailing skills in an enjoyable and informal manner.  Charges apply for sail guides/extra tuition beyond the normal briefing.
