The discreet charm and beauty of the area around the extinct volcano of Mount Macedon has long been a favourite destination for discerning Melbournites.   International visitors can now enjoy the area on a small group excursion by luxury coach.  Highlights include beguiling Hanging Rock, an award winning winery, beautiful vistas and Hepburn Springs, famous for its therapeutic mineral water springs and spa.   There is also an option to overnight  at some fine accommodation.
  

ITINERARY:
Departs Melbourne: Daily (except June, July, Aug when operates Mon, Wed, Fri). Minimum of 2 adult passengers.

At approx 8.45 am be collected from your Melbourne hotel by your driver/guide and travel west via Diggers Rest to Mount Macedon - famous for its grand mansions, wineries and gardens. The National Trust has classified part of the township of Macedon because it contains one of  the most important collection of houses and gardens in Australia from the 1890's to 1920's.

It's just a short drive to atmospheric Hanging Rock (pictured) where you may discover the mystery surrounding the fabled disappearance of Miranda some 100 years ago!  Time to explore and to visit the 'Discovery Centre' where the history, mystery and geology of the Rock come to life.

Enjoy Morning Tea before moving on to Hanging Rock Winery where you will enjoy tasting many of their wines. The Winery is renowned for its world class sparkling 'Macedon', 'Jim Jim' Sauvignon Blanc and Hanging Rock Shiraz.

Drive on to Woodend and then through magnificent bushland and lush farmland to Daylesford and the Convent Gallery where you are able to browse amongst works by some of the finest artists, sculptors, jewellery makers, silversmiths, glass blowers and ceramists. Printmakers, Koori artists, mural painters, textile artists and potters add to the colour and texture of this vibrant artistic region. Enjoy lunch and a glass of local wine in the Mediterranean style terrace restaurant.

Continue through Hepburn Springs to Shepherd's Flat and the 1860's 'Lavandula' Lavender Farm. Lombardy Poplars mark the driveway leading to a cluster of farmhouse buildings around a cobbled courtyard. There is time to discover the secret parts of the old garden and the Barn, where you can explore a rich history or browse through the produce, craft and home-wares that are produced from the lavender fields.
Return to Daylesford where afternoon tea is enjoyed at the Boathouse Café overlooking Lake Daylesford. Time then to walk through the main street where you can explore an intriguing mix of shops, including interesting antiques, bric-a-brac, second hand bookshops, coffee shops and cafes.
Depart from Daylesford at 4.30pm to arrive back at your City hotel by approx 6.00pm.

Optional Spa Treatment:  Passengers who have chosen to take a spa treatment (see Price Panel below) are dropped off at their spa around 2..00 pm and will be picked up just after 4.00 pm.

 You can opt for a  package in the afternoon, when you will be transferred to your choice from the following at 2.00 pm:
* Peppers Springs Retreat Spa - 90 minute Retreat Access with cool water plunge pool, two deep hot spas, sauna rooms and herbal tea in the wet area relaxation lounge
* Salus Spa at Lake House - 2 hour package including Elemis products, trained therapists, a 30 minute Elemis facial, hot mineral spa with waterfront views, herbal tea and mineral water in the relaxation lounge

Optional Overnight Accommodation
If you would like to spend more time in the vicinity of Mount Macedon, there is an option to add an overnight stay onto the day tour, staying at some of the finest accommodation in the area, all with en suite bathroom facilities.  You will be transferred to your chosen  accommodation after lunch on the day tour and collected at approx. 4.15pm the following day (or day after if staying 2 nights)**.

Peppers Springs Retreat ( Bed and full breakfast)
Located in Hepburn Springs, Peppers Springs Retreat is the total luxury boutique hotel experience.  Its art deco architecture, furnishings and open log fires are reminiscent of a bygone era.  Fine dining is available in the a la carte restaurant and informal meals in the Retreat Café or alfresco on the Terrace or in the gardens.  Minimum stay 2 nights if a Saturday night included. 

Lake House Restaurant and Small Luxury Hotel (Bed and full breakfast) 

 An award winning luxury accommodation in Guesthouse Rooms which are part of the original homestead, and Waterfront Rooms overlooking Lake Daylesford.
